What a crazy year! Just when we thought nothing could top 2020, this year came along to keep us on our toes. With the after-effects of Brexit and the ongoing, ever-changing Covid situation we faced a load of different challenges this year, from ingredient supply issues and delivery delays, to staff shortages and packaging delists.
And then Christmas came along with a huge spike in demand that we were not prepared for after the plodding pace of the previous months. This meant that we were on the back foot and never even managed to get our mince pies in our online shop, let alone our new range of products. Sorry about that and thank you to everyone for your patience.
We had an exciting September, exhibiting at our first trade show since the Pandemic began (pictured above). Chatting about cake at the Lunch Trade Show in London with thousands of visitors was the most normal thing we’ve done for a long time! It was great to get out and see some familiar faces behind the masks – thank you to everyone who visited our stand.
The biggest news of the year should have been us opening another shop in Bristol on Cotham Hill. We were determined to open the week before Christmas but unfortunately we just weren’t able to find enough staff to fill the rota. So for now the shop is ready and waiting, we hope it won’t be too much longer… Watch this space. Opening early in 2022 will be a nice positive step forward, hopefully setting the tone for the rest of the year to come 🙂
